School-based traineeships have been designed to be flexible while at the same time providing nationally-recognised training developed for the industry by the industry. Whilst studying toward their QLD certificate of Education (QCE), school-based trainees are trained both in the workplace and on campus with F.I.T.
Once completed, you can gain employment as a Professional Gym Instructor with fitness centres throughout Australia and overseas.
Furthermore, the following study options are also available once you have completed your Certificate III in Fitness to further your skills in the fitness industry:
- Group Fitness Instructor studies
- Certificate IV in Fitness to become a Personal Trainer
- Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology Degrees – further study at University level
F.I.T conducts the Certificate III in Fitness for school-based trainees as a 10 week program, each Thursday on campus, covering 15 subjects comprised of practical and online assessments. This qualification is the minimum requirement to work in gyms, fitness facilities, community facilities and outdoor environments. The traineeship also includes the First Aid qualification.
As the Trainee starts the course, the Employment Program will commence simultaneously, this ensures that learning both on campus and in the workplace is completed at the same time. The Trainee Employment Program consists of 38 weeks of Trainee employment (10 hours per week).
This means that you can get started towards your career in fitness straight away; working in an already established and successful business in the Fitness Industry and being paid to work towards your qualification!
The workplace skills and confidence you will gain during the school-based traineeship provides a solid foundation for any career.
