The first person I spoke to at F.I.T was Dee (F.I.T Director) and straight away I knew I was at the right place. She took the time to talk to me and answer all of my questions, and the best thing was that there was just no pressure. Dee knew I was married and would have to discuss enrolling with my wife, but she still took me on the full tour of the F.I.T Skill Centre and HaMMA Arena. This was great as it gave me a chance to meet some of the teachers and staff, and there was just a good feeling there.
I could see the enthusiasm for health and fitness from everyone I met. For me, this was so important. I’d just won the Excess Baggage show on Channel 9 and lost 39kg, it was an amazing experience but I needed to get my life back in order to make sure I didn’t put all that weight back on. Being around people who were genuinely passionate about fitness was essential.
I was a bit nervous about enrolling as it had been a long time since I was at school, and I’m the first to admit that I was never a model student! But once I started the course I just loved it. There were people there from all walks of life and the course was first class. It was the best start I could get to my career.
A few weeks after graduating I started working at Go Health Club at Carindale, and within a couple of months I was taking 35 sessions a week. I’m loving working as a PT, it’s such a rewarding and satisfying career. Helping people to turn their lives around is unbelievable, and you get to work with so many active and energetic people which is fantastic.
I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER WITH MY EXPERIENCE AT F.I.T AND I’VE GOT NO DOUBT THAT THE TRAINING AND EDUCATION I RECEIVED HAS ALLOWED ME TO GET MY NEW CAREER OF TO SUCH A GREAT START.
